Running poedit 1.3.1 in Red Hat 9

The klnX project is using poedit for the localization of Open Source Software. poEdit is cross-platform .po files editor. It is built with wxWidgets toolkit which means that we can run it both in Windows and Linux.

This guidelines describes the steps that we have followed to run poedit 1.3.1 under Red Hat 9.0.

a) Install wxGTX RPMs

rpm -i wxGTK-2.4.2-1.i386.rpm
rpm -i wxGTK-devel-2.4.2-1.i386.rpm
rpm -i wxGTK-static-2.4.2-1.i386.rpm

b) Install db version 4.1

rpm -i db-4.1.25-76.i586.rpm

c) Remove db4-4.0 devel

rpm -e db4-devel

d) Upgrade db4-4.1 devel

rpm -i --upgrade db-devel-4.1.25-76.i586.rpm

e) Uncompress, configure and install the source code poedit 1.3.1

tar zxvf poedit-1.3.1.tar.gz
cd poedit-1.3.1
./configure
make
make install

Due to our bandwidth restrictions in Tanzania, we have placed a compressed copy of all software required here
